Shyne named Global Ambassador Honoree at Caribbean Music Awards
By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Belize will have its flag flying high in Port of Spain this September. The Caribbean Music Awards has announced Moses “Shyne” Barrow as its 2026 Global Ambassador Honoree, recognizing a journey the awards body describes as one of music, transformation, leadership, and impact.
The honour celebrates both chapters of a life few could have scripted. As a Belizean artist, Shyne made his mark on the global music industry at the turn of the millennium with a distinctive voice and presence that, in the words of the announcement, helped define an era, bringing the sound and influence of Caribbean talent to audiences around the world from the biggest stages in hip hop.
Then came the second act. Years later, Shyne carried that influence into public service, going on to serve as Leader of the Opposition in Belize’s House of Representatives and, as the awards body notes, using his platform to advocate for Belize and its people.
“His story embodies the spirit of a Global Ambassador, representing Caribbean culture, creativity, resilience, and leadership on the world stage,” the announcement states.
The celebration takes place on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the National Academy for the Performing Arts in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, with tickets available at CaribMusicAwards.com.
For Belize, the recognition lands as another entry in a remarkable run of international spotlights on the Jewel, and this one belongs to a son of the soil whose name has travelled as far as any Belizean’s ever has. From the record booths of New York to the floor of the National Assembly, and now to a regional stage built to honour
