Belize Department of Civil Aviation convenes Agricultural aviation operators to strengthen industry safety
The Belize Department of Civil Aviation (BDCA) convened a meeting on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, with representatives of the agricultural aviation companies (manned) currently operating in Belize, following a series of recent accidents within the agricultural aviation sector. The meeting was called to share important safety recommendations arising from the preliminary assessment of the accidents and to chart a collaborative path forward for a safe and sustainable agricultural aviation industry. During the session, BDCA officials presented a series of interim safety recommendations for operators to implement immediately, proposed the development of more robust operational procedures, and highlighted the importance of regulatory certification and compliance, based on the preliminary findings. Representatives of the agricultural aviation companies in attendance welcomed the opportunity for direct dialogue with the Department and expressed their full support for the recommended safety measures and the proposed path forward. Operators agreed to work collaboratively with the BDCA on the development of enhanced safety protocols specific to agricultural aviation, including improved reporting mechanisms, improved personnel and aircraft oversight, and closer coordination on best practices across the industry. The Department noted that this meeting marks the beginning of a dynamic collaborative process, with follow-up engagements planned to monitor implementation of the safety recommendations and to continue strengthening the regulatory framework governing agricultural aviation in Belize. “A safe agricultural aviation sector is a sustainable one.” The post Belize Department of Civil Aviation convenes Agricultural aviation operators to strengthen industry safety appeared first on Belize News and Opinion on www.breakingbelizenews.com.
