Pic du Midi offers a series of astronomy evenings in August

The Pic du Midi is hosting a series of astronomy events in August, including several evening stargazing sessions and a special concert by electronic music producer Thylacine on 12 August, the day of the solar eclipse. At an altitude of 2,877 metres, Pic du Midi offers particularly favourable conditions for observing the night sky. The Galactic Evenings, organised in partnership with the Instant Science association, invite visitors to watch the sunset from the summit before continuing the evening at the Maison du Tourmalet in the company of astronomers. Following the sessions scheduled from 11 to 14 August, further Soirées Galactiques will take place on 18 and 19 August, followed by 26 and 27 August. Participants can observe the stars and discuss astronomy with specialists. The evenings are available from €70. On 12 August, the programme will take on a special dimension with the solar eclipse. Pic du Midi will provide a live broadcast of the event from the platform of the Bernard Lyot Telescope, with the participation of the University of Toulouse. That same evening, electronic music producer and musician Thylacine will perform at an altitude of 2,877 metres, with Lysten as the opening act. The concert will take place beneath the Pyrenean night sky as part of Pic du Midi’s cultural programme. The August programme combines astronomy, scientific outreach and cultural events.
