Belize represented at the 12th Commonwealth Sports Ministers meeting in Glasgow, Scotland
By Zoila Palma: Anthony Mahler, Minister of Tourism, Youth, Sports and Diaspora Relations, and Devin Daly, Minister of State for Youth and Sports are representing Belize in the 12th Commonwealth Sports Ministers Meeting in Glasgow, Scotland, ahead of the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
The Belize delegation includes CEO Nicole Usher Solano, Cherie Nisbet, Belize High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, and Allan Sharp, President of the Belize Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association.
The meeting brought together sports ministers, senior government officials and Commonwealth Games leaders from across the Commonwealth under the theme “Reimagining the Power of Sport towards Healthier, Fairer and Equitable Commonwealth Communities.”
Discussions focused on strengthening international cooperation, promoting integrity and inclusion in sport, advancing athlete safeguarding, and leveraging sport as a catalyst for health, youth development and sustainable growth. The meeting also adopted a joint outcome statement to help shape Commonwealth priorities ahead of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) later this year.
Belize is represented at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games by five athletes competing in Swimming, Cycling and Athletics.
The Ministry extended best wishes to Team Belize as they proudly represent our nation in the Commonwealth Games from July 23-August 2.
