October court date set for Elvira Mulholland; accused of attempting to murder her husband

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A tentative October 2, 2026 court date has been set in the attempted murder case against Elvira Mulholland, who is accused of shooting her husband during a domestic dispute in 2024. Mulholland appeared before Justice Candace Nanton in the High Court on Friday, represented by attorney Dr. Lynden Jones. She remains out on High Court bail. The defence informed the court that Mulholland is also currently on trial in the Magistrate’s Court for an alleged robbery arising from the same incident. That trial, which began in April, is scheduled to continue on August 3. Justice Nanton adjourned the attempted murder matter until October 2 for a case management conference, by which time the lower court proceedings are expected to have concluded. A firm trial date could then be determined. Police allege that on October 25, 2024, Mulholland followed her husband, Jeffrey Mulholland, along the Coastal Road, ran his pickup truck off the road and shot him with his own licensed firearm following a struggle. She was committed to stand trial in the High Court after a preliminary inquiry concluded in July 2025.
