Phivolcs records 'more energetic' activity in Mayon Volcano
LEGAZPI CITY, Albay — The eruptive activity at Mayon Volcano intensified Monday night as state volcanologists recorded what they described as the volcano’s “more energetic strombolian activity” since the current unrest began. In a late evening advisory on Monday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the volcano threw out large incandescent ballistic fragments and fed active lava flows along the Mi-isi Gully in Daraga town and Bonga Gully in Legazpi City in Albay province.
