Palace defends Pangandaman appointment
MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang has defended the appointment of former Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman as the chair and CEO of the state-owned Al-Amanah Islamic Investment Bank of the Philippines (AAIIBP), saying she remains innocent of her alleged involvement in the massive corruption scandal exposed last year. “There is nothing wrong with appointing someone whom the President believes can do the job well,” Palace press officer Claire Castro said on Monday.
