Serious bodily harm case dismissed after complainant withdraws
A High Court judge has dismissed a serious bodily harm case against two Christ Church men after the complainant indicated he no longer wished to proceed. Rokarl Elwyn Lewis of Harpers Land, Sargeants Village, and Brandon Rommell Allamby of Downes Land, St Lawrence, both in Christ Church, were charged that on August 25, 2020 they unlawfully wounded Zakwon Jones with intent to do him serious bodily harm or to maim, disfigure or disable him.   They were also accused of unlawfully and maliciously wounding Zakwon Jones on the same date.   When the matter was called in the No. 5 Supreme Court, the complainant told the court that he no longer wanted to proceed with the matter.   Saying he had reached the decision of his own free will and had not been threatened or coerced, Jones stated, “I never saw the person who shot me and I want to move on with my life.”   Justice Pamela Beckles said: “The matter is discontinued for want of prosecution.”   Acting State Counsel Maya Kellman prosecuted the case.   (JB) The post Serious bodily harm case dismissed after complainant withdraws appeared first on Barbados Today.
