Solaria secures €41 million to accelerate its battery deployment in Castile and León and Catalonia
Solaria Energía y Medio Ambiente has been awarded €41 million in grants by the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE) under the Second Call for Investment Aid Programmes for Innovative Renewable Energy and Storage Projects, which forms part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan and is financed by the European Union through NextGenerationEU funds.
The grants will enable the company to accelerate the deployment of battery storage systems linked to four innovative agrivoltaic projects located in Castile and León and Catalonia, strengthening the capacity to integrate renewable energies into the electricity system and contributing to more efficient and flexible energy management.
The award represents significant institutional support for Solaria’s development model, based on the combination of renewable generation, energy storage and environmental integration. Agrivoltaic projects make it possible to combine clean energy production with agricultural and livestock uses, maximising land use and fostering sustainable development in rural areas.
The storage systems associated with these projects will facilitate greater optimisation of the energy generated, reducing curtailment, increasing grid stability and providing essential flexibility services to respond to the growth in the electrification of the economy and the increase in energy demand linked to digitalisation and data centres.
This award forms part of Solaria’s strategy to consolidate its position as one of Europe’s leading energy storage operators. The company currently has one of the largest battery portfolios in the Spanish market, developing solutions for both hybrid projects and standalone storage facilities.
Securing these grants will accelerate the execution of the beneficiary projects, mobilise additional investment and reinforce Solaria’s contribution to the decarbonisation, security of supply and energy competitiveness objectives set by Spain and the European Union. The post Solaria secures €41 million to accelerate its battery deployment in Castile and León and Catalonia first appeared on All PYRENEES.
