PM: Government submits business, tax reform bills to parliament

The government submitted seven legislative amendments to parliament aiming at improving the business climate through customs and tax incentives, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said Tuesday, June 16, 2026. Speaking at the launch of Egypt’s Foreign Trade Information Portal, Madbouly said the government hoped the House of Representatives would approve the measures before June 30. He said the proposed reforms were the result of extensive consultations with the business community and were designed to encourage investment, support exporters and stimulate economic activity. Madbouly added that Egypt was targeting merchandise exports of around $100 billion by 2030 as part of efforts to narrow the country’s trade deficit and strengthen the economy’s resilience against external shocks. The prime minister said the newly launched trade portal would provide exporters and investors with market data and information to help them access new markets, improve product competitiveness and support export growth.
