French President Emmanuel Macron has welcomed the agreement reached between the United States and Iran and called for its swift and full implementation.
In a post on X early Monday, Macron said the agreement was the result of diplomatic efforts involving several countries and international partners.
He said the deal should lead to the immediate and unconditional reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, stressing that the restoration of unrestricted maritime traffic is essential for regional stability and the global economy.
Macron also said the agreement could create an opportunity for broader negotiations on peace and security in the Middle East.
According to the French president, future talks should address Iran’s nuclear programme, its ballistic missile activities and concerns related to Tehran’s regional role.
He also reaffirmed France’s support for efforts by Lebanese authorities to strengthen state sovereignty and preserve the country’s stability and territorial integrity.
The U.S.-Iran agreement has been welcomed by several governments and international organizations as a significant diplomatic breakthrough after months of conflict and regional tensions. The framework includes an immediate ceasefire, the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and a process for further negotiations on unresolved issues between Washington and Tehran.
