PM Hun Manet: TVET Qualifications Carry Same Value as University Degrees
(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) should not be viewed as a second-tier education pathway, stressing that vocational qualifications carry the same value as university degrees.
Speaking at the 9th National TVET Day 2026 on Monday (Jun. 15), the premier urged greater public awareness of TVET’s importance in developing practical, market-relevant skills.
“TVET is not a second-class option,” the premier said, adding that vocational education provides valuable skills that support employment, income generation, and national development.
He encouraged Cambodian youth to view TVET as an honourable and equal alternative to traditional academic studies.
On the occasion, the prime minister noted that TVET plays a key role in addressing skills shortages, strengthening workforce resilience, and preparing young people for changing labour market demands.
The Royal Government continues to promote TVET as a major pillar of workforce development and economic growth.=FRESH NEWS
