Artist Nina Rassen Registers the Concept of “Multidimensional Bionics” on the Bitcoin and Dash Blockchains
On May 31, 2026, Russian artist Nina Rassen, founder of the artistic style “Multidimensional Bionics,” recorded the description and conceptual framework of the style on the Bitcoin and Dash blockchains.
A unique SHA-256 hash of a document outlining the theoretical foundations of “Multidimensional Bionics” was permanently embedded in both blockchain networks. The records were timestamped on May 31, 2026, at 05:10:07 and 05:12:29 UTC, respectively, providing independent and verifiable proof that the document existed on that date.
Unlike the common practice of using blockchain technology in the art world through NFTs or smart contracts to verify ownership of individual artworks, Nina Rassen applied the technology to document the concept and theoretical foundations of a new artistic style.
In essence, the Bitcoin and Dash blockchains served as decentralized ledgers containing a mathematical fingerprint of a document outlining the principles and philosophy of “Multidimensional Bionics.” As a result, the subject of the blockchain record was not an individual artwork or digital asset, but the original concept and theoretical foundation of a new artistic style.
This approach highlights the potential of blockchain technology beyond the registration of individual artworks. Through the use of blockchain timestamping, records cannot be altered retroactively, providing verifiable evidence of a document’s existence at a specific point in time and supporting the establishment of creation priority.
The blockchain record represents the third layer of a multi-level authorship protection framework established by Nina Rassen. The framework includes:
• A CopyRus certificate of deposit (No. 023-014838), issued on April 28, 2023;
• The international author identifier ISNI 0000 0005 0388 4080, which references the term “Multidimensional Bionics”;
• A SHA-256 hash of the document permanently recorded on the Bitcoin and Dash blockchains.
“I did not take this step for the sake of technology itself. What mattered to me was ensuring that the concept of ‘Multidimensional Bionics’ and its authorship would be preserved in a way that transcends time, institutions, and national borders,” said Nina Rassen.
Experts in digital preservation note that the combination of traditional archiving, international author identification, and decentralized blockchain registration creates a comprehensive framework for establishing authorship and documenting the creation and existence of an intellectual work.
Nina Rassen is an Honored Artist of Russia, an Honorary Corresponding Member of the International Academy of Contemporary Arts, and the founder of the artistic style “Multidimensional Bionics.” A multidisciplinary artist, sculptor, designer, and fashion designer, she has received numerous national and international distinctions, including the 2025 Grand National Business Award for Innovation in Art.
The registration of the “Multidimensional Bionics” concept demonstrates an emerging approach to documenting and protecting intellectual creations in the arts, where preservation extends beyond individual works to encompass the creative concepts and theoretical foundations behind them.
