Diplomatic Coup with Brunei: Vienna Bids to Host New EU-ASEAN Center Starting in 2027
Austria aims to establish its capital as a central hub for relations between Europe and Southeast Asia. On the sidelines of the 30th Wachau Europe Forum, it was announced that Vienna has officially applied to host a new, high-profile EU-ASEAN Center. The center is scheduled to begin operations in 2027. This strategic decision was also the main topic of discussion at the bilateral meeting between Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger and the Second Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brunei Darussalam, Erywan Yusof.
