Pakistan army chief discusses Iran-US mediation efforts with China’s foreign minister

Asim Munir held talks with Wang Yi on developments in the Middle East and bilateral relations, according to Chinese state media. Xinhua News Agency reported that Wang described ties between China and Pakistan as “strong and unbreakable.” During the meeting, Munir briefed the Chinese side on Pakistan’s mediation efforts related to tensions between Iran and the United States. The Pakistani army chief reportedly said prospects for an agreement between Washington and Tehran were improving and that Islamabad was prepared to continue its diplomatic efforts. Wang Yi also praised the Pakistani military’s role in maintaining ties between Beijing and Islamabad and said China supports Pakistan’s mediation initiatives. China remains one of Pakistan’s closest strategic partners and has repeatedly coordinated with Islamabad on regional security and diplomatic issues. Pakistan has recently increased diplomatic engagement over Iran-US tensions, with regional countries pushing for negotiations aimed at preventing wider conflict and instability in the Middle East. China has expanded its regional diplomatic role in recent years, particularly through closer cooperation with Pakistan and economic projects linked to the Belt and Road Initiative, including the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
