Mayor Jorge Rosales seeks 3rd term as Mayor of Benque Viejo del Carmen

By Zoila Palma:  Mayor of Benque Viejo del Carmen Jorge Rosales is the first Mayor of the border towns to serve 2 consecutive terms and is now seeking re-election. Mayor Rosales has applied to be the PUP Mayoral candidate in the 2027 municipal elections. Mayor Rosales is a community leader who continues to dedicate his life and time to the development and growth of Benque Viejo. Mayor Rosales has achieved two lifelong ambitions — becoming a building contractor and later serving as mayor of his hometown. Born on March 7, 1973, Rosales is the eldest of 12 children born to Irene and Marcos Rosales and has built his career around service and development. Rosales attended Mount Carmel Primary School before continuing his education at Mopan Technical High School. His interest in architecture later led him to enroll at Belize Technical College. He eventually entered the construction industry alongside his father and siblings, contributing to building projects in San Ignacio, Belize City, Caye Chapel and other locations across Belize before establishing his own construction company. In 2020, Rosales sought the mayoral seat in Benque Viejo del Carmen. His decision marked a new chapter focused on community leadership and addressing the needs of local residents through municipal service and development initiatives. Today, together with the elected council, Mayor Rosales continues to provide essential services while promoting long-term growth for the community.
