PM Hun Manet Orders Transparent Aid Distribution for Border Conflict Victim, Says Temporary Shelters Do Not Mean Loss of Territory

PM Hun Manet Orders Transparent Aid Distribution for Border Conflict Victim, Says Temporary Shelters Do Not Mean Loss of Territory
(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet ordered authorities to ensure fair and transparent distribution of temporary housing for people displaced by border conflict. Speaking at the 19th Cambodian Veterans and Retirees Day on Friday, Samdech Thipadei stressed that aid must go only to genuinely affected families, with strict checks to prevent duplicate registrations. Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet praised provincial authorities and the National Committee for Disaster Management for quickly building around 2,000 temporary homes across affected provinces, including Preah Vihear, Banteay Meanchey, Oddar Meanchey, Battambang, and Pursat. On the occasion, Prime Minister Hun Manet reaffirmed that providing temporary shelters does not mean Cambodia is giving up any sovereign territory, adding that the government will continue defending its territorial rights through peaceful means. The premier also noted that while 2,000 temporary houses have been constructed over the past two months, their vulnerability to destruction in the event of renewed hostilities is a concern. The temporary housing initiative is specifically designed for displaced individuals who are unable to return to their homes due to destruction, presence in conflict zones, or risks posed by unexploded ordnance.=FRESH NEWS
