Three Killed as Small Plane Crashes into Building in Brazil
At least three people were killed and two others injured after a small aircraft crashed into a residential building in Belo Horizonte, authorities said, in one of the latest aviation incidents in Brazil.
The aircraft, carrying five people, had taken off from Pampulha Airport en route to Sao Paulo, but veered off course minutes after takeoff before striking a three-storey residential building in an urban area.
Officials said two pilots and one passenger were killed in the crash, while two other passengers were seriously injured and transferred to hospital for treatment.
Local authorities confirmed that no residents inside the building were harmed, although parts of the structure sustained damage following the impact.
Emergency teams responded quickly to contain the situation, while aviation investigators launched a probe to determine the exact cause of the crash.
Brazil has recorded several small aircraft accidents in recent years, often linked to technical failures, pilot error or adverse weather conditions affecting short domestic flights.
The country’s aviation authority has repeatedly stressed the need for stricter safety oversight, particularly for privately operated and regional aircraft.
Experts say investigations typically focus on flight data, maintenance records and pilot communications to establish what led to such incidents.
