Toyota Celica GT-Four (ST205) White Toyota Celica GT-Four at Arkhangelskoye Estate (Moscow Region, Russia) The Toyota Celica GT-Four is a powerful sports car based on the Celica Liftback. It was produced from 1986 to 1999. It runs with a 3S-GTE turbocharged engine and permanent all-wheel drive. Developed to compete in the World Rally Championship. The championship rules require manufacturers to produce road-going versions of such cars in sufficient numbers. Such cars are referred to as ‘special homologation’ models. II Generation (1994–1999) The Celica GT-Four ST205 arrived on the Japanese market in February 1994. This model was the most powerful in Celica history. It has the same body as the sixth generation Celica T200. Export versions delivered 242 HP (178 kW), whilst the Japanese version delivered 255 HP (188 kW) thanks to an upgraded 3S-GTE engine and E154F gearbox. Inspired by the successes of Toyota Team Europe in the World Rally Championship, the final version of the GT-Four received a number of improvements: an aluminium bonnet to reduce weight, four-channel ABS, an improved twin-scroll CT20B turbocharger and ‘Super Strut’ suspension. The official WRC models were released in 1994, with a total of 2,500 units produced. They complied with WRC homologation regulations. All Australian ST205s sold there were WRC models and were named GT-Four Group A Rallye. These cars featured a leather interior, with options including air conditioning and a glass sunroof. In August 1995, Toyota updated the ST205. New 6-spoke alloy wheels, side skirts, side sills and a redesigned rear spoiler were among its key features. The Japanese version had also an updated rear lights. An electric sunroof, the Super Live audio system and Recaro SR-II seats became optional. From August 1996, sports ABS and dual SRS airbags became standard on all models. The tall WRC-style rear spoiler was removed, but returned following the second update in December 1997.
