Tavana to stay with Tigers through to 2029

THE TIGERS have confirmed the extension of Tino Tavana’s contract, keeping the outside back at Concord until at least the end of 2029 NRL season. Having gone from strength to strength in the Tigers Pathways system, Tavana signed a train-and-trial deal with the Tigers at the end of 2025 after an impressive season playing for the Club’s Jersey Flegg Cup (U21s) side – scoring nine tries. The 21-year-old made headlines after scoring a spectacular try in the Tigers NRL Witzer Pre-Season Challenge match against the Roosters in February. Tavana’s pre-season form would go on to earn him an NRL debut against the New Zealand Warriors in Round 4, with the Club granted dispensation for him to play due to injuries across their outside backs. The newly minted Wests Tiger #305 has scored two tries in as many matches since taking the field at NRL level, with an aerial effort to add to his highlight reel when scoring in Round 5 against the Eels. In 2027, Tavana will become a Development Player, before joining the Club’s Top 30 in the final two years of his deal. On signing his extension, Tavana said he’s excited to remain a Tiger. “I’ll always be grateful to Benji and the Club for giving me the opportunity to make my dream of playing in the NRL a reality – it was a special moment for me and my family,” Tavana said. “I’ve played most of my junior footy in the Camden/Campbelltown region, so I’m really honoured to be staying at the Tigers.” Tigers NRL Head Coach Benji Marshall said Tavana’s extension was well deserved. “Really proud of the work Tino has done to get to this point and pleased to have him with us until 2029,” Marshall said.
