Andorra is preparing to welcome the French Co-Prince, Emmanuel Macron
The Principality of Andorra is preparing to welcome the French Co-Prince, Emmanuel Macron, on 27 and 28 April 2026 for an official visit centred on institutional engagements, education, and outreach to the public. The Head of State will arrive in the country by helicopter under enhanced security and protocol arrangements. The visit will commence on the afternoon of Monday, 27 April, with an official ceremony at Casa de la Vall, where President Macron will be received by the Head of Government, Xavier Espot, and the General Syndic, Carles Ensenyat. The programme will include formal greetings and an official photograph, followed by an address broadcast on public channels and an institutional dinner attended by political representatives. The main engagements will take place on Tuesday, 28 April. The Co-Prince will meet members of the French community resident in Andorra and visit a number of educational establishments representing both the Andorran and French systems. These include the Escola Andorrana de Santa Coloma and the French high school (lycée), reflecting the coexistence of the two educational models and the close cultural ties between the Principality and France. The highlight of the visit will be a public address delivered in the square in front of the General Council. President Macron will subsequently attend an institutional session at Casa de la Vall, sign the book of honour, and greet members of the public. In parallel, the Government has introduced exceptional measures to ensure the smooth conduct of the visit. On 28 April, shops, offices, industrial premises and public administrations will close between 12.00 p.m. and 2.30 p.m.; this period will be paid and will not have to be made up by workers. Essential services and parts of the tourism sector will remain operational, subject to certain limitations. Access restrictions will also be in place around Casa de la Vall and the General Council between 8.00 a.m. and 2.00 p.m. for security reasons. The Government has further encouraged the public to take part in the occasion by decorating balconies and windows in the colours of the Andorran flag. The post Andorra is preparing to welcome the French Co-Prince, Emmanuel Macron first appeared on All PYRENEES.
