Tanzania Starts Universal Health Insurance Scheme With TZS 150,000 Annual Household Premium

Tanzania has rolled out its Universal Health Insurance Scheme, effective January 26, 2026, requiring households of up to six members to pay TZS 150,000 annually. Vulnerable groups, including the elderly, children, pregnant women, and persons with disabilities, continue to be financed by the government.
